Home and Community Based Services (HCBS)
For families/caregivers and members wanting more support at home, we also offer three in-home care services. All of our staff train particularly in the use of teaching techniques to engage the members and bring positivity into every situation. Every day is special and gives us an opportunity to grow.
Attendant Care services
Attendant care is a service to maintain or improve safe and healthy living, which includes personal cleanliness and activities of daily living. For example, these activities can include help with showering, bathing, changing seats, and eating.
Habilitation services
Habilitation services are for members looking to grow in home-based and life skills. Before visiting, a staff member will learn a member’s goals and what tasks they want to improve (e.g., cleaning, cooking, shopping, washing clothes or working in the yard). Sometimes the goals need certain things to be learned first. For instance, if the member wants to learn to bake, then the staff member follows the steps in the member’s plan to get there. The first step may be finding a recipe, learning how to read measurements, learning different kinds of dough, and then setting timers and temperatures on the oven. Staff also help the member with social goals, like learning stranger-danger and how to use community resources.
In-Home Respite Care services
Respite is “short care and supervision” of children and adults with developmental disabilities. The main purpose of in-home respite services are providing relief for the primary caregiver to take time for self-care. Meanwhile staff supports the emotional, physical, and mental well being of the person with disabilities. When this service is provided regularly, it can keep families and other primary caregivers strong and energized.
